  • Please Join Us

We are women from around the world fighting to end captivity, the drive hunts and the cruelty to cetaceans globally Click here to see where an event is located near you and get involved. Isn't it time to be part of the solution?

  • Suffering Continues

The drive season has started in Taiji and people at captive facilities are calculating their needs for the next drive season. Now is not the time to get complacent, now is the time to be as active as you can. Start a march, hand out pamphlets, educate friends, family and strangers. The world can not change unless they have all the necessary information to make better decisions.

  • DON'T Support Captive Facilities

When you purchase a ticket to a captive facility such as Sea World you are keeping the drive hunts alive. You are contributing to an extremely abusive system that can only continue with the support of the consumer.

While we try to evolve as a species, the human race will have to evolve their ways of life.

‪#‎UPDATE‬: Sea Shepherd Volunteers Demand Jail Time Over Deportation
This morning, the 5 Sea Shepherd defendants who have been convicted of interfering in the slaughter of 250 pilot whales in the Faroe Islands on July 23, walked into Tórshavn police station and demanded to serve their sentence of jail time.

The action was in response to a deportation request, submitted by the prosecution; the purpose of which is to have the 5 volunteers ejected from the Faroe Islands as soon as possible.
The defendants are demanding to stay in the country and serve their time. An appeal to the deportation request had been submitted by their defense attorney.
The volunteers were told that the final decision on the deportation would be made by Danish immigration, but that authorities are still pushing for deportation of all 5 volunteers.

Faroe UPDATE: July 20, 2015

30 Pilot Whales escape the clutches of the killers,
2 SS Volunteers arrested, small vessel Farley seized.
Volunteers Released - Hearing Thursday. 7/23/2015.

Source: via Sea Shepherd Global and Paul Watson
‪#‎BREAKING‬: Two Sea Shepherd Crewmembers Arrested In The Faroe Islands With Assistance Of Danish Navy
Two volunteer crew members from the Sea Shepherd ship, Sam Simon, have been arrested in the Faroe Islands. Susan Larsen of the United States, driver of the small boat, Farley, and Tom Strerath of Germany, navigator of the same small boat, were arrested at approximately 0900 local time this morning. The incident occurred following what is believed to have been an attempted grindadráp, just north of Klaksvík in the northeast of the island archipelago.
Shortly before the incident, the Sam Simon and the Farley were investigating a flotilla of approximately 15 local boats that was on the move, heading north past Klaksvík. The Danish Navy vessel, HDMS Triton was also in the region. Though no pilot whales could be seen in the area
by Sea Shepherd, the activity is generally indicative of a pilot whale drive hunt.
Shortly after, the flotilla of boats stopped moving north, at which time the Sam Simon and the Farley also stopped moving.

One of the small boats from the flotilla then approached the bow of the Sam Simon, moving southwards along the portside of the conservation ship, to its stern. The crew on board the small vessel threw a line in the propeller of the Sam Simon, intentionally disabling the Sea Shepherd ship.
At this time, the Farley was approximately one nautical mile on the portside of the Sam Simon. It is understood that Faroese police boarded the small boat and arrested the two volunteers, and have since taken them to Klaksvík police station.

Sam Simon Captain, Adam Meyerson, requested confirmation from the Danish Navy as to whether the small boat crew had been arrested. The HDMS Triton responded, saying they were not “doing” police work, and advised Captain Meyerson to contact local police for further information.
Despite this comment, the Triton positioned itself between the Sam Simon and the small boat, so that the Farley was not visible to the crew of the Sam Simon.
Sea Shepherd Land Team Leader, Rosie Kunneke, contacted local police to inquire whether the pair had been arrested. Confirmation was given, with police saying that the arrest occurred because the Sea Shepherd crew was “inside the grind area.”

Captain Meyerson requested confirmation from the Danish Navy as to whether a grindadráp had been called, however no such confirmation was given at the time the request was made.
Captain Meyerson also requested confirmation as to whether the Triton had confiscated the small boat, Farley. Again, no confirmation was given, however Sea Shepherd believes that this was the case.
“I made multiple request of the Danish Navy today for information; about whether a grindadráp had been called; about whether our crew had been arrested; and about whether the Farley small boat had been confiscated. Each time, my requests went unanswered. Despite their claims to the contrary, it is clear that the Triton was intimately involved in today’s arrests, and that the Danish Navy are deeply entrenched in the grindadráp,” said Captain Meyerson.
Reports in local media indicate that local whale hunters had spotted and were attempting to drive a pod of pilot whales. However, it is believed that the pod escaped and a grindadráp did not eventuate.
Kunneke has confirmed that a legal representative has been brought-in to act on behalf of the arrested Sea Shepherd volunteers.
“Given there is no grindadráp it appears as though our crewmembers have been arrested for absolutely no reason. Police are remaining tight-lipped at the moment, but with no obvious reason for their arrest, we are hopeful that the pair will be released shortly,” said Kunneke.
Despite being an anti-whaling member nation of the European Union, subject to laws prohibiting the slaughter of cetaceans, Denmark continues to show its support for and collaboration with the Faroese whalers.
Sea Shepherd is currently in the Faroe Islands for its sixth pilot whale defense campaign, Operation Sleppid Grindini.

Sea Shepherd Paul Watson Update:
20-30 More Pilot Whales Slaughtered.

Source: via Sea Shepherd Global and Paul Watson
An Egregious Mass Murder in the Faroes Islands This Morning.
20 to 30 dolphins were viciously slaughtered within the last hour on the beach at Havannasund on Vidoy Island.

The police mobilized quickly to block off a tunnel to the island and to set up a restricted zone to keep people away from the killers as the blood coloured the water a deep red and the screams of dying dolphins echoed across the beach, as laughing and cheering Faroese whalers splattered themselves with hot blood in a perverse orgy of sadistic lust.
The police closed the tunnel to the island to prevent anyone from reaching Havannasund.
The police are aggressively assisting the dolphin killers.
The Brigitte Bardot was unable to reach the location in time. The dolphins had been quickly spotted and driven with stones and bang poles onto the beach where their drooling killers waited with their knives eager to extinguish the lives of these gentle creatures.
The Faroe Islands continue to encourage the barbarity of slaughtering dolphins with the full complicity of the government, the media, the police with new authoritarian special laws and now the Danish government and the Danish Navy.

The Faroese have decided to pull out all stops in their defense of this savage cultural obscenity.
It appears that many people in the Faroes are so traditionally and morally bankrupt that they can only find identify in the bloody ritualized culture of sadistic slaughter, as if to proclaim to the entire world that they, the Faroese require blood sacrifices to illustrate their lack of complete lack of empathy and morality. It is their way of spitting in the face of common human decency by declaring their uniqueness in the only way that has any meaning for them – the deliberate and prideful infliction of suffering and death to innocent, intelligent, self aware, socially complex sentient beings.

With the power and force of the Kingdom of Denmark defending their little backwater vassal entity in the Islands of Sheep, the whalers are intent to cowardly continue killing, believing they have God on their side (“Gott mit us”) and knowing they have the politicians in their pockets.

“Our ship, the Sam Simon, is crewed with 24 passionate volunteers from 11 nations.
